What do I need to consider when cleaning the elfa interior?

Are the products of the competitors compatible with the elfa products?
Some of our competitor’s products could be compatible, but we cannot guarantee a functioning storage solution with non-elfa components.Are the components of my Classic storage that I bought 10 years ago compatible with the ones you offer today?
Absolutely – this is part of the elfa concept; you can always trust previous elfa components to fit perfectly with newer collections and products. -

Can I paint the doors or decorate them with wallpaper?
Yes. Just choose an MDF board or a plain white filling as a base. Make sure you treat both sides.How do I install the position stops?

All our glass is safe. We have different types of safety features, one type of glass is safety glass and the others have a plastic foil.How wide are the rails for the sliding doors?

The difference is the material and design. See the product page for details.Do you have hanging sliding doors (attached only in the ceiling)?
No, all our sliding doors are floorbased.Can the sliding doors be used outdoors?
Yes they can, but they are made to be indoors and some materials might be damaged by weather and humidity.Do you have 1-track rails for the doors?
Yes, in some markets we do – please contact your local dealer for information.What are the positions stops for?
To easily get the door in a certain position.How do I install the lighting?
The LED-light is pre-installed, but if you have a sloped door you need to install parts of it yourself. Please see our installation guide for sloped solutions for further information.How do I fix the floor and ceiling rails?
Please see our installation guide.Do I have to drill in the floor to install the bottom rail?
Wall mounted doors and sloped doors with soft closing need to be mounted with screws. Ceiling assembled doors with soft closing can be mounted with either screws or tape. Solutions without soft closing can be mounted with double sided tape.Are the doors humidity resistant?
Fillings in perspex, mirrors and glass material are humidity resistant, but other fillings in wood or chipboard are not.
Profiles in aluminum are also humidity resistant.How can I install the doors if I only have one wall available?
You can use a side panel, which unfortunately not are available in our assortment. You can also contact a carpenter or similar to get help to build a wall.The ceiling height is not equal in my room, how do I handle that?
Differences in height up to 12 mm will be handled through easy adjustments that you can do yourself. Is the difference more than 12 mm, please contact customer service.Can the sliding doors be used as room dividers?
Centric is an equilateral profile in aluminum. It is specifically designed to be a room divider for doors up to 3300 mm. Please contact your local dealer for more information.How do I calculate the roof pitch for sloping sliding doors?
Your local dealer will assist you. If in doubt ask an expert do the measuring for best results. -
Drawers (4)
Will the drawer’s glide stay smooth over time?
Yes! We test our wire drawers in our own lab to ensure at least a 10-year warranty. The test simulates a ten year usage for all closet applications, especially the gliding of drawers.Can I combine drawer frame units on top of each other?
Indeed you can. There are several combination possibilities. When combining two 10-runner frames, please make sure that they stand steadily and that you do not overload the top drawers.Can I put a drawer unit on top of a shelf?
We would not recommend it for safety reasons.How many basket stops do you need per basket?
For full security, two – one on each side. -
Hanging system & wallbands (4)
How can I decide the appropriate distance between the wallbands?
We recommend not more than 90 cm. Please see assembly instructions for further information.What are the advantages with the hanging system in comparison to the wallbands?
Basically, increased flexibility and simplified installation. See the product pages for further information.When should I use the expander screws?
For installation in plasterboard walls or other kinds of boards, and when the installation is done in non-solid walls.Does my system need to be drilled into studs?
Not necessarily, but the shelving system can take more weight. It is of great importance to use the correct hardware for your actual wall. -

What is the delivery time for doors?
The delivery time may vary depending on what door you order, but is usually estimated around 4 weeks.Can I order sliding doors directly from you?
Elfa delivers to the dealers only – please check the list for your closest one!Can I order my doors online on your website?
No, online ordering is not possible. However, you can easily create a purchase list with the help of our planning tool and just bring it to your local store.What is the delivery time for interior?
Classic can be purchased in store, and Décor is by order only in some markets. Please check with your local store what is available in your area. -

What type of paint does Elfa use?
We use an epoxy powder for our steel products.What are the elfa-products made of?
Most of Elfa's interior products are made of steel with epoxy coating. We also have products made of wood and plastic. -

elfa is a do-it-yourself-concept and most of our products and articles simply click or snap into place. Our system was specifically developed for easy installation and assembly. Should you need support, you can always contact your local retailer or customer service. We also recommend you to read through the assembly instructions.Is there a starter kit for the shelving system?
No, there is no starter kit available as most of our customers create customized solutions. -

Can the wire shelf be cutted?
Some of our local stores can cut and customize the shelves for you. You can also do it yourself with a metal saw, but beware of rough edges.Can the solid shelves be cut?
Yes, but beware of rough edges. Please note that the edge band will disappear.How much can I adjust the height of the sliding doors?
You can adjust up with 10 - 15 mm, depending on door model.Is my guarantee affected if I cut the shelves myself?
No, it is not. -
Weight & Loading Capacity (5)
Is it risky to load the shelving system when only attached to the wall through the top track? Do I have to attach the standards with screws?
No, it is not necessary to attach the standards with screws. The stability actually increases with the amount of weight. There are no screw holes in the hang standards.How much weight can a drawer support?
Recommended weight is around 8 kilos, the drawer should easily slide in and out of the frame.How much weight can the traditional brackets hold?
Recommended load is a maximum of 55 kilos.How much weight can the hang standard hold?
This depends on what type of wall the top track is installed in to. You can also ask your local store for recommendations. It is of great importance to use the correct hardware for your actual wall.What is the loading capacity of the runners?
Recommended maximum load is 10 kilos.
